Vietnam’s Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung met with South Korea’s Minister of Employment and Labor Lee Jung-sik.

Vietnamese Minister of Labor Dao Ngoc Dung commented on the success of the Vietnam-Korea Labor Cooperation Forum during his meeting with South Korean Minister of Employment and Labor Lee Jung-sik. At the forum, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Trinh instructed the two ministries of labor to further promote and strengthen cooperation in the policy of dispatching and accepting workers. The meeting emphasized that the two countries should cooperate to solve the problems of rapid aging and labor shortage in South Korea and to utilize Vietnam’s young and hard-working labor population.

The two ministers agreed to continuously expand labor cooperation in quality, scale and industry to meet the needs of South Korea’s economic development. At the same time, the two sides agreed to actively implement policies and measures to improve the transparency of the process of dispatching Vietnamese workers to South Korea and reform administrative procedures. This includes measures to apply information technology and reduce the number of workers who do not return home after the end of their contracts.

During the meeting with South Korean Minister of Employment and Labor Lee Jung-sik, Minister Dao Ngoc Dung highly praised South Korea’s efforts to introduce various new policies and improve the efficiency of dispatching and accepting foreign workers. In particular, Vietnamese workers were recruited in 5 out of 6 occupations, and Korean enterprises highly value the skills and diligence of Vietnamese workers. In addition, the EPS program has been modified to provide better convenience for workers. Currently, 17 countries are participating in the EPS program, with Vietnam being the country with the largest number of workers.

After the meeting, the two ministers agreed to continue to promote close cooperation in the field of labor working in Korea and activate cooperation projects in the fields of vocational training and industrial safety between the two ministries.
