On June 4, the Overseas Labor Center (Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs) announced the recruitment of workers to work in Korea in the original industry under the Foreign Workers Employment Permit Program (EPS Program).

Recruiting workers to work in Korea under the EPS program

 

This program is implemented under the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Vietnam and the Ministry of Employment and Labor of Korea. Since 2004, more than 134,000 Vietnamese workers have come to work in Korea under this program.

According to the announcement, the number of workers recruited this time is 400, of which 300 are welding workers and 100 are mold workers.

The recruitment targets are students studying at the School who are trained from intermediate level or higher (except for demobilized soldiers who are trained from elementary level or higher).

In which, for Welding, workers are required to be trained in welding or mechanical engineering (having been trained in theory and practice of welding);

Molding: trained in metal cutting or mechanical equipment manufacturing (having been trained in theory and practice of turning, milling, grinding modules);

Labor conditions that meet the conditions for selecting workers to participate in the EPS Program are those from 18 to 39 years old (age range from June 5, 1984 to June 6, 2006); no criminal record as prescribed by law; never been deported from Korea; not banned from leaving Vietnam; no relatives (father, mother, biological children; siblings; wife or husband) residing illegally in Korea; not color blind or color vision disorder; healthy enough to work according to Korean regulations.

If the worker has ever resided in Korea (including legal and illegal residence) under an E9 visa (EPS worker) or (and) an E10 visa (fishing boat crew), the residence period must be less than 05 years.

The Overseas Labor Center also noted that workers diagnosed with infectious diseases such as syphilis and tuberculosis will be disqualified for failing medical examinations and will be forced to leave the country if they are diagnosed positive for drugs in Korea.

The organization of interviews, the development of vocational skills tests (theory and practice), Korean language tests and grading are the responsibility of the Human Resources Development Service of Korea (HRD Korea). The registration period is from June 5 to July 5, 2024. The interview period is from July 15 to July 19 this year.

Only candidates who pass the vocational skills test will be eligible to attend the Korean language training course. The cost of vocational training and vocational skills test is about 9 – 10 million VND/person. The cost of Korean language training is about 3.2 million VND/person.

At the end of the Korean language training course, candidates are allowed to take the EPS-TOPIK Korean proficiency test on the computer, the required score is 80 points or higher (80/200 points). Candidates are allowed to take the Korean language test twice, the official result is the result of the test with the highest score.

Workers pay an amount of Vietnamese Dong equivalent to 28 USD for the Korean language test fee according to Korean regulations.

Candidates who pass the Korean language proficiency test can apply for recruitment to be introduced to Korea for recruitment.

If a Korean enterprise signs a labor contract and goes to work in this country, the worker must pay the dispatch fee in Vietnamese Dong equivalent to 630 USD, and deposit 100 million VND at the Social Policy Bank according to regulations for workers participating in the EPS Program.

The deposit amount including principal and interest will be returned to the worker when the contract is completed and the worker returns to the country on time. In case of contract termination and illegal residence in Korea, or illegal stay in Korea after the termination of the labor contract, and not voluntarily complying with the decision on administrative sanctions, the deposit will be forced to execute the decision on administrative sanctions according to the Law on Handling of Administrative Violations.

If selected, the worker will be allowed to work in Korea for a period of 3 years. If the Korean enterprise has a need, the period will be extended to a maximum of 1 year and 10 months. At the same time, there is an opportunity to re-enter Korea to work under the EPS Program.

Workers will also receive a basic salary, overtime pay and participate in insurance according to Korean regulations. In 2024, the basic salary in Korea is 2,060,740 won/month, converted at the current exchange rate of about more than 38 million VND.
