The Korea Parents’ Safety Association (Chairman Ko Jong-cheol) announced that the opening ceremony of the Jeju International Student Human Rights Protection Center will be held at 2 p.m. on September 26.
The Center for the Protection of Human Rights of International Students was established to address the problems that arise when policies and laws fail to address the increasing number of international students in Korea every year.
The Center will cooperate with various agencies to provide comprehensive support for international students, including legal, labor, medical, and administrative support, to help them settle down smoothly.
Professor Ryu Tae-ho of Jeju International University, who will serve as the director of the Center for the Protection of Human Rights of International Students in Jeju, said, “The goal of attracting international students is to improve the deficit in the field of studying abroad, enhance the global competitiveness of higher education, enhance Korea’s international status, and utilize excellent human resources from abroad. However, the lack of management and measures to protect the human rights of international students is causing new problems.”
He also emphasized: “This center will play a pioneering role in protecting the human rights of international students, and we will actively participate in public service activities for international students.”
